House of stars review

In case you missed, check out the previous post where I talk about my newest discovery in theย world of beauty – House of Stars.

“Home is where your make-up stash is”

Lately I have found myself more and more interested in make-up and beauty, with developing my skills to the state where I can be happy with the way my make-up looks.. With this interest comes a lot of research and try-outs to find the products that I absolutely love and can review and share with you guys.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light

Unlike other posts, I will start this one with my least favourite product. I didn’t expect my emotions towards this being so meh, but I really didn’t enjoy it. All though it is a so called Anastasia Contour Kit dupe, I have a hope that the Anastasia one is better. This product seems too thick for me and leaves my face looking cakey and stuffed with product. Indeed I did follow the instructions to see the full effect, but it just didn’t work for me. The highlighter must be the one I dislike the most. Didn’t really highlight anything and all in all, didn’t look good. I still consider the possibility that it might be just me, but I tried applying this product with fingers, Beautyblender, brushes and nothing worked. For now, I will stick to my powder contour kits.

However, if you do want to give this a try, the price is $16.49 which is really great for 6 products that you get in this palette.. if they looked as good as expected.

Sleek Solstice Highlight Palette

This is one of the most beautiful highlighter palettes that I have seen and honestly, what was in the paletteย didn’t even matter at the first glance, because it is just so pretty.

The best part thought is that it actually is beautiful inside and out. With four products – 1 creamy, 1 silky powder and 2 bakedย highlighters it is completely worth the price ($14.99) if the colours are what you’re looking for.

These can be used for face and body to give a beautiful glow and I just love the pigmentation and the way these look on the inner corner of eyes. Beau-ti-ful!

Worth mentioning is that the palette comes with a little brush, but I just don’t find the quality of it topping my other brushes so this one stays unused.

Mary-Lou Manizer

Another highlighter, yes, I know. My obsession is real, but I just couldn’t pass this one up, especially after the social coverage this product has. And the hype is real – this one is my to-go highlighter and mainly because of its gorgeous, settle pigment. It is not too little or too much (but is build-able) and looks freakin’ amazing when the sunshine hits my face.

I believe this is the one highlighter every girl has to at least try and all though the price tag ($24.00) might seem too much for a single product, you get so much highlight that it will last you a lifetime (almost).

One thing to keep in mind is that the pigmentation really is superb so go slowly when applying the product unless your intention is being seen from outer space. ?

Honestly, I feel like all the products from The Balm are so appealing and I must give them the appreciation for the clever branding. The packaging and product names are just so cool, clever and unique. Love it!

6 Piece Deluxe Contour Set by Morphe

With stepping up my contour and highlight game comes making sure I have the right tools and after eyeballing all the options Morphe has, I decided to go the easy road and get a set of these 6 beautiful, white-handled brushes.

In the set you get one of each – angled buffer (my favourite for contouring), round buffer (for creamy consistency product), pointed contour buffer, mini angled buffer, mini round buffer and mini pointed contour.

For me, the angled buffer works as a charm for applying my powder contour and makes the application much easier without leaving any strokes of the product. All of these brushes are extremely soft as well. The mini pointed contour brush is my second most used brush from this set as I apply concealer with it. The pointed tip makes it easy to apply the product in harder to reach places and dot it wherever its needed.

All in all, with the price of $19.99 I must say that this is a great addition to my collection and I love everything about them – starting from the design to the pretty good quality (once in a while some bristles fall out, but that’s a minor problem and for the price – easy to ignore).

    • Right? I can’t tell how similar exactly they are since I haven’t tried the Hourglass yet, but it looks like a really affordable alternative. Thank you for the comment, love :)*
