House of stars review

In case you missed, check out the previous post where I talk about my newest discovery in the world of beauty – House of Stars.

“Home is where your make-up stash is”

Lately I have found myself more and more interested in make-up and beauty, with developing my skills to the state where I can be happy with the way my make-up looks.. With this interest comes a lot of research and try-outs to find the products that I absolutely love and can review and share with you guys.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light

Unlike other posts, I will start this one with my least favourite product. I didn’t expect my emotions towards this being so meh, but I really didn’t enjoy it. All though it is a so called Anastasia Contour Kit dupe, I have a hope that the Anastasia one is better. This product seems too thick for me and leaves my face looking cakey and stuffed with product. Indeed I did follow the instructions to see the full effect, but it just didn’t work for me. The highlighter must be the one I dislike the most. Didn’t really highlight anything and all in all, didn’t look good. I still consider the possibility that it might be just me, but I tried applying this product with fingers, Beautyblender, brushes and nothing worked. For now, I will stick to my powder contour kits.

However, if you do want to give this a try, the price is $16.49 which is really great for 6 products that you get in this palette.. if they looked as good as expected.

Sleek Solstice Highlight Palette

This is one of the most beautiful highlighter palettes that I have seen and honestly, what was in the palette didn’t even matter at the first glance, because it is just so pretty.

The best part thought is that it actually is beautiful inside and out. With four products – 1 creamy, 1 silky powder and 2 baked highlighters it is completely worth the price ($14.99) if the colours are what you’re looking for.

These can be used for face and body to give a beautiful glow and I just love the pigmentation and the way these look on the inner corner of eyes. Beau-ti-ful!

Worth mentioning is that the palette comes with a little brush, but I just don’t find the quality of it topping my other brushes so this one stays unused.

Mary-Lou Manizer

Another highlighter, yes, I know. My obsession is real, but I just couldn’t pass this one up, especially after the social coverage this product has. And the hype is real – this one is my to-go highlighter and mainly because of its gorgeous, settle pigment. It is not too little or too much (but is build-able) and looks freakin’ amazing when the sunshine hits my face.

I believe this is the one highlighter every girl has to at least try and all though the price tag ($24.00) might seem too much for a single product, you get so much highlight that it will last you a lifetime (almost).

One thing to keep in mind is that the pigmentation really is superb so go slowly when applying the product unless your intention is being seen from outer space. ?

Honestly, I feel like all the products from The Balm are so appealing and I must give them the appreciation for the clever branding. The packaging and product names are just so cool, clever and unique. Love it!

6 Piece Deluxe Contour Set by Morphe

With stepping up my contour and highlight game comes making sure I have the right tools and after eyeballing all the options Morphe has, I decided to go the easy road and get a set of these 6 beautiful, white-handled brushes.

In the set you get one of each – angled buffer (my favourite for contouring), round buffer (for creamy consistency product), pointed contour buffer, mini angled buffer, mini round buffer and mini pointed contour.

For me, the angled buffer works as a charm for applying my powder contour and makes the application much easier without leaving any strokes of the product. All of these brushes are extremely soft as well. The mini pointed contour brush is my second most used brush from this set as I apply concealer with it. The pointed tip makes it easy to apply the product in harder to reach places and dot it wherever its needed.

All in all, with the price of $19.99 I must say that this is a great addition to my collection and I love everything about them – starting from the design to the pretty good quality (once in a while some bristles fall out, but that’s a minor problem and for the price – easy to ignore).

Make Up New In & House Of Stars

Revolution highlighter palette

Do you know the feeling when you find a well hidden gem, a place that has everything you have had your eyes on for a long time? Well it happened to me today.

On a casual stroll around the city I stumbled upon this store called House of Stars. They had the Kardashian Beauty logo on their window so I thought why not give it a try. Huge was my surprise when I noticed that they stock all the massive beauty brands that I have been obsessing over online.

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Bare Minerals, Sleek, NYX, Korres, Nip + Fab, Morphe, The Balm and more fantastic brands that I have been wanting to try but never got my hands on. I had to really control myself for the sake of my bank account, but I know I will be a regular customer already.

The prices for products are kept relatively low. The products are a bit more expensive than you would see on the official sites, but that’s understandable because of the shipping rates etc. I am just super glad that I can try the products out before buying them since it would be impossible when shopping online.

I left the heavenly place with 3 gorgeous items – the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pomade, Makeup Revolution blush palette and a Morphe blending brush.

I must add that this is not a sponsored post, I just loved the place so much that I had to let you guys know about this gem. Read more and shop online on their website here.

Oh my how much I love this place. ?

Makeup Revolution & Morphe

I am a huge fan of anything shimmer when it comes to make-up and when I saw this Makeup Revolution Blush palette, I couldn’t not get it. It is the Golden Sugar one and has the most amazing collection of merged blushers, baked bronzer and baked highlighters.

I have already fallen in love with the more purple like blush, which comes off beautifully when applied and gives your cheeks that pretty glow and a little of colour.

The matt nude colour is perfect for contouring and looks great on fair skin like mine. This palette is everything for me right now and don’t see myself using anything else for now. A must have!

Another thing I purchased was the Morphe E17 blending brush and oh boy it is amazing. I am really lacking eyeshadow brushes in my collection so this for me is a brilliant item and it blends eyeshadow just as great as it feels because of the softness of the bristles.

I can’t wait to go back to the store and get more of Morphe brushes. I have found my ideal make-up tools. Yay!

Anastasia Dipbrow pomade review

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Probably one of the most popular brow products out there – the Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade. I got mine in dark brown as the sales assistant suggested would be best for my hair colour. There are so many different colours for these pomades so I highly recommend trying them out first before the purchase.

I have been really excited to try this product and get my brow game on point. Up till now I have been using powders for my eyebrows – the Elf one in particular and I have been loving it, but I am hoping that this pomade will give me a more natural look and proper shape.

Remember about the brush when getting the browdip! Anastasia recommends using their Brush #12 for perfect finish. Mine is on its way since I already ordered it online, but I believe that if you don’t feel like spending extra on the brush, any eyebrow angled brush will work.
