House of stars review

In case you missed, check out the previous post where I talk about my newest discovery in the world of beauty – House of Stars.

“Home is where your make-up stash is”

Lately I have found myself more and more interested in make-up and beauty, with developing my skills to the state where I can be happy with the way my make-up looks.. With this interest comes a lot of research and try-outs to find the products that I absolutely love and can review and share with you guys.

Sleek Contour Kit in Light

Unlike other posts, I will start this one with my least favourite product. I didn’t expect my emotions towards this being so meh, but I really didn’t enjoy it. All though it is a so called Anastasia Contour Kit dupe, I have a hope that the Anastasia one is better. This product seems too thick for me and leaves my face looking cakey and stuffed with product. Indeed I did follow the instructions to see the full effect, but it just didn’t work for me. The highlighter must be the one I dislike the most. Didn’t really highlight anything and all in all, didn’t look good. I still consider the possibility that it might be just me, but I tried applying this product with fingers, Beautyblender, brushes and nothing worked. For now, I will stick to my powder contour kits.

However, if you do want to give this a try, the price is $16.49 which is really great for 6 products that you get in this palette.. if they looked as good as expected.

Sleek Solstice Highlight Palette

This is one of the most beautiful highlighter palettes that I have seen and honestly, what was in the palette didn’t even matter at the first glance, because it is just so pretty.

The best part thought is that it actually is beautiful inside and out. With four products – 1 creamy, 1 silky powder and 2 baked highlighters it is completely worth the price ($14.99) if the colours are what you’re looking for.

These can be used for face and body to give a beautiful glow and I just love the pigmentation and the way these look on the inner corner of eyes. Beau-ti-ful!

Worth mentioning is that the palette comes with a little brush, but I just don’t find the quality of it topping my other brushes so this one stays unused.

Mary-Lou Manizer

Another highlighter, yes, I know. My obsession is real, but I just couldn’t pass this one up, especially after the social coverage this product has. And the hype is real – this one is my to-go highlighter and mainly because of its gorgeous, settle pigment. It is not too little or too much (but is build-able) and looks freakin’ amazing when the sunshine hits my face.

I believe this is the one highlighter every girl has to at least try and all though the price tag ($24.00) might seem too much for a single product, you get so much highlight that it will last you a lifetime (almost).

One thing to keep in mind is that the pigmentation really is superb so go slowly when applying the product unless your intention is being seen from outer space. ?

Honestly, I feel like all the products from The Balm are so appealing and I must give them the appreciation for the clever branding. The packaging and product names are just so cool, clever and unique. Love it!

6 Piece Deluxe Contour Set by Morphe

With stepping up my contour and highlight game comes making sure I have the right tools and after eyeballing all the options Morphe has, I decided to go the easy road and get a set of these 6 beautiful, white-handled brushes.

In the set you get one of each – angled buffer (my favourite for contouring), round buffer (for creamy consistency product), pointed contour buffer, mini angled buffer, mini round buffer and mini pointed contour.

For me, the angled buffer works as a charm for applying my powder contour and makes the application much easier without leaving any strokes of the product. All of these brushes are extremely soft as well. The mini pointed contour brush is my second most used brush from this set as I apply concealer with it. The pointed tip makes it easy to apply the product in harder to reach places and dot it wherever its needed.

All in all, with the price of $19.99 I must say that this is a great addition to my collection and I love everything about them – starting from the design to the pretty good quality (once in a while some bristles fall out, but that’s a minor problem and for the price – easy to ignore).

Goodiebox March 2016

Today I would like to share yet another goodiebox.dk box review with you, but this time (even though I say it every month) it truly is the best box so far. 6 full-sized products in a glamorous black box that this month was bigger in size due to the products it was guarding. The value for this box is way over the top and I am so happy to be part of this superb service!

Let’s have a look at the top 6 Danish Beauty Awards products nominations for Goodieboxprisen 2016!

THE BODY SHOP

HONEY BRONZE ™ TINTED LEG MIST

I have never been a fan of sunbathing as well as tanning salons. I went to one couple of years ago but didn’t enjoy it at all as the thought of what it does to my skin never left my mind. Trying self-tanners has been on my to-do list for a while, but while I am trying to figure which one to opt for I was super excited to try this The Body Shop bronzing mist. And even though the title says ‘leg mist’, don’t be afraid to spritz it on any other area that you would like to see in a nice glowing bronze.

I can’t wait to try this out when I have already tanned a bit since this product gives such a beautiful glow. I am not quite sure how it will go together with swimming sessions though, since it does wash off in shower. Probably it is a good idea to wear this to music festivals and when going in water is not planned. ?

Be aware that this product can get all over the place so make sure to use it in the bathroom (best – shower) and for better application/tan-free hands use a tanning glove. I have listed some affordable ones below.

JORGOBÉ

WHITE TEA BALANCING CREAM

~

I got so excited when I saw this product in the box. It is the perfect multifunctional cream. As a moisturiser for day time, protective night cream or intensive moisture mask.

The reasons why this product is my ultimate favourite go on. It has a pump dispenser which is not only super convenient, but hygienic as well. It’s enough with two little pea sized pumps of product to spread it all over the face and it doesn’t leave a greasy feeling, which I love. Really, really great product and my skin feels so soft every time I use it.

This product is produced in Denmark and contains no dyes, parabens, mineral oils or silicone. I have become really cautions of what kind of products I use and what is on the ingredient list and seeing more and more natural products hitting the market shelves gives me hope for a better future in the skincare industry.

KARMAMEJU

STAR MICELLAR WATER 02

~

Everybody knows how important it is to remove make-up at the end of the day and there are so many different products out there to do so.

After using the Karmameju konjac sponge which was my first introduction to this brand, I was excited to see this micellar water in this months box.

After using it for a while, I can honestly say that it removes make-up absolutely effortlessly, fast and leaves my skin feeling fresh and treated. It is a 3-in-1 cleanser that removes make-up, tones and moisturizes skin. A pretty good deal if you ask me!

It contains ingredients like organic aloe vera, floral water of orange(which it smells like) and desert plant Jericho rose.

Since it doesn’t need to be removed with water afterwards, this might be the perfect make-up remover on the go and for the festival season. I’m not so comfortable with not washing it off though, so unless I am in a place without water supply, I will keep my routine as it is.

MARIA NILA

LUMINOUS COLOUR MASQUE

Good news for all my vegan readers! There is another superb product for you to try that is 100% vegan, smells amazing and I can’t get enough of.

Maria Nila is a swedish brand and makes great hair care products, one of which I got in the Goodiebox. The luminous colour hair mask not only has cute, pink packaging but leaves hair smelling (like pomegranate), feeling and looking beautiful.

I let it sit in damp, washed hair for 3-5 min before washing it out and I believe that I am not the only one who just loooves the feeling of washing out hair masks. It feels so soft and completely detangled. Definitely can recommend this product for coloured or natural hair.

GOSH COPENHAGEN

DEFINING BROW GEL

Yes, yes, yes! I’m so excited to review this. Ever since Maybelline released their tinted brow gels I have been wanting to try one and then this little beauty appeared on my doorstep in the Goodiebox. It is the Gosh Copenhagen brow gel in brown and has become my favourite item to finish the make-up session.

I usually use it on top of my Anastasia dipbrow for perfect finish, but if you don’t feel like filling your brows, just using this gel will be enough. I do that on my lazy make-up free days. ?

ECOOKING

MULTIBALM

~

This product left me on a so-so kind of feeling. I like the packaging, but other than that it is not something I would see myself reaching for, but that is only because it really is that kind of a product that you use when really need to. In this case – dry skin. It is extremely natural – no perfume, hormones. It has oily texture when in contact with hands and works wonders with insect bites, chapped lips, cuticles and so on. It is produced in Denmark and I see why this product should be kept at the back of the bag for first-aid situations.

GOODIEBOX REVIEW ~ FEBRUARY 2016

Goodiebox review

Goodiebox February 2016

If there is any subscription service out there that deserves a round of applause it must be Goodiebox.dk. I have been their fan and client for 5 months now and there hasn’t been a box yet that would disappoint. In fact, the box we will be talking about today is the best one so far.

First of all, Happiest 4th Birthday to the Goodiebox Denmark crew and everyone who works behind this great service. Secondly, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the design of Februarys box. Isn’t it just the cutest?

I love that you can clearly see that there has been a lot of thought and process being put into making the box with customers kept in mind. As usual, it came with black confetti covering the products and this time, a pretty pink tissue paper holding it all together. It is the presentation that plays the big role here. ?

This month the box contained seven wonderful products that completely exceeded the price of the box itself. What I love about Goodiebox is the value. I have never been disappointed with the included items before and it doesn’t look like I will anytime soon.

Great job with the packaging AND the selection of products that fills this box. Speaking of which, lets look into the contents of this beauty:

Balance Me

Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser

Ever since I tried the face cream from Balance Me that was in one of the first Goodieboxes, I fell in love with the brand. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this product. It doesn’t have obnoxious scent, the texture is amazing and it removes make-up flawlessly. As the packaging says, it is 99% natural and is for all skin types.

This has now become my favourite make-up remover and has a spot in my daily night-time routine. This is not a full-sized product so I know I will be getting one soon.

Retail price is 219,95 DKK for 50ml

Eucerin

Hyaluron-Filler CC Cream in light

I love Eucerin brand for their amazing skincare products. I use their shower oil daily to moisturise my skin and their lotion for extra care and protection, but I had no idea they had make-up products and this came as a delightful surprise this month.

The texture of the product is amazing and blends very well, but even though the colour tone is ‘light’ it just comes off a bit too orangey on my pale skin. I can’t wait to try this out in Summer months and see how it works then. 🙂

Retail price is 219,95 DKK for 50ml

Unani

Dermo Defense Face Mist

My newest discovery and immediate affection is for this face mist by Unani. I use it 2-3 times a day depending on wether I use make-up or not. It is great for extra hydration and refreshing the skin and balances the pH level.

I like to use it after washing my face, hence in the morning and evening after make-up removing, as well as after I have set my make-up with powder to give my face more vibrant feel. It is great for making the Beautyblender moist before applying make-up.

In general, it helps to prevent ageing, sensitivity and redness of the skin. When using in the evening, after the make-up removal it serves as a tonic as well.

It is recommended to let the mist stay on your skin for 2-3 minutes without touching it.

The feeling after using this mist is great, refreshing and this will definitely be the product I repurchase again and again.

Ingredients: Aqua, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Propanediol, Glycerin, Curculigno Orchioides Root Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Parfum, Citral,D-Limonene, Isoeugenol.

Recommended for sensitive skin.

Beautyblender

The Original Beautyblender & Solid Blendercleanser

I know, I know.. I am super late to this trend and I wish I knew sooner how amazing the Beautyblender is. It has changed my make-up routine for the best and it is a pleasure using this little tool every time I apply a foundation or concealer. I always had the problem of brushes leaving strokes or not blending the product in well enough. The Beautyblender truly is amazing and I can’t recommend it enough.

The Goodiebox were kind enough to include the Solid Blendercleanser for the sponge and brushes which is a nice touch and makes the time-consuming process of brush cleaning faster and more enjoyable.

Retail price for BB is 129,95 DKK and 155 DKK for the cleanser

Eylure

Naturals no. 031

I am not a daily user of fake eye-lashes since it just appears that I don’t have the skill of applying them. It is always a struggle, but I have prepared myself for trying these out asap. Eylure has already gathered some great reviews all over the beauty world because of their good quality and affordable lashes. I am glad that Goodiebox included these 031.’s which seem so delicate and pretty without being ‘too much’.

Retail price is 59,95 DKK

Egyptian Magic

All Purpose Skin Cream

The magical cream that the famous beauty vlogger Michelle Phan included in her Best of 2015 video. It comes in a tub looking like a solid wax, but when heated in between hands, becomes an oil that you can apply anywhere where needed. It can be used on dry skin (elbows, heels etc.), as highlighter because of it’s oily shine as well as for hair tips, face and body. Literally for anything. There were two tester packets included in the box and I feel like this is a mandatory product to have in your vanity for times when needed.

Thank you for the delightful surprise, Goodiebox.dk!
